Medical Therapies.
Currently, the only cures for this disease is stem cell therapy or bone marrow transplant. However, the significant risks involved limit the use of them. Despite the limited treatments for it, there are medications to treat its symptoms. There are currently new developments to the new treatments for the disease. Legislation.
The US House of Representatives voted on the fiscal year (FY) 2021 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) spending bill, an amendment will be included for $2 million in dedicated funding for the SCD data collection program at CDC.
