Organized by Calvanay Nunley, she has been apart of camp for 24 years. She was 7 yrs old when she started off as a camper then became a Counselor in Training (CIT) at the age 16. Then she became a counselor and before you knew it she was the camp director. Camp is not just something she does, it is her passion, it is her assignments.

Activities Offered:

At camp we introduce our youth to out door's activities such as rock climbing, zip lining, horse back riding, archery water sports and arts and crafts. We have s'mores at the camp fire and a thriving dance party at the end of camp with a live Dj and a theme. We also like to keep the kids hydrated and crisis free by challenging them to a friendly competition of Water Wars. Which cabin and camper can drink the most water its a healthy way to prevent crisis by keeping them hydrated and crisis free. Their always excited about water wars. We host and award ceremony at the end of camp and also teach sickle cell education done by Sickle Cell 101. 

Qualifications to Join Camp:

  • Must have sickle cell disease and be between the ages of 7-17 years old

  • Must be fully vaccinated. We follow all rules and guidelines pertaining to COVID-19.

Age Range and Leadership Role:

  • Accepting kids between the ages of 7 to 17 years old

  • Acceptation of becoming a CIT (Counselors in Training) at the age 16

Camp Grounds:

Our Camp Site is always located at The Taylor Family Foundation in Livermore, CA. Our cabins are heated with heated floors and also a heated pool. We have all accommodations met for the needs of children with Sickle Cell Disease. The Taylor Family Foundation supports many medical Camps in Northern California. 

Does it change each year or the same place all the time?

In the same place every year, we first meet at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, CA. Afterwards, we take charter buses filled with campers and counselors out to Livermore, CA.
